Run Up Records Logo Design
Run Up Records is a record label founded by Ap Dhillon- a Punjabi/Canadian singer, rapper, songwriter and record producer. The company was looking for a logo that was easily distinguishable- minimal and yet impactful. It was designed to create powerful brand recognition for the label during the uprising of artists AP Dhillon and Gurinder Gill- showing up on merch, and animations used frequently on their India + UK tour in 2022.
After countless meetings, presentations and iterations, the logo took approximately 6 months to complete. The final design is a fusion of iconography and typography- taking the basic elements of 2 R’s and an arrow pointing upwards to create the logo recognizable today as the Run Up Records official logo.
(1) Run Up merch showreel and photography done by the Run Up Record team. This media is used to showcase the real-life uses of the logo. The merch drop took place in June 2021.
(2) Branded ski mask worn by Gminxr and designed by me for use during a photoshoot when the team earned their Youtube Creator Award.
The logo is designed to be easily transferrable to various media- with merch being an important consideration. From its ability to be scaled down onto a label to being blown up and projected onto a concert screen- the logo is versatile, balanced, and memorable.

Process
Notable iterations from the conceptualization phase of the logo design:
When the project was initially introduced, the clients had asked for an icon that incorporated a target or a rocketship, and emphasised the phrase “taking over the world”. Working deeper into the project, it became evident that we could see those elements in less obvious iconographies- allowing me to peel away at the details until the final completed design.
